Time Revolution White Cure is new whitening line of Missha introduced in 2011 with three exclusive compounds. 1) DN-Aid™ , a DNA repair ingredient created in collaboration with SERO Biologiques of France. 2) White-Cure™ that contains melanin care ingredients of Madagascar island to lighten the pigmentation and control the melanin formation. 3) Seven flower extracts – White rose, Freesia, Edelweiss, Jasmine, White lily, Iris and Lotus for various skin care benefits.

I love flowers, they always have special power to beautify this world. Being a rational skin care person, I tend to take flower formulation in skin care product as emotive ingredient more than effective ingredient, exception given to those are supported with sufficient scientific studies from reputable world organization.

Both White Cure toner and lotion have strong floral scent, which is pretty common trait of Korean skin care. I personally think the fragrance is soapy. The Super Essential Toner (KRW22000/150ml) has a tint of slippery feel, feeling very lightweight, refreshing and absorbed in skin easily; whereas the Super Radiance Lotion (KRW22000/130ml) was feeling light and moisturizing, leaving skin shinny-looking and it was slightly sticky before it dried on skin. For moisturizing effect, I have mixed feeling about them eventhough I have only tried them for a week plus in total. As the skin condition varied in different circumstances, they felt insufficient for drier skin but moisturized just right when skin was oilier. For whitening effect, I have yet to see any result given with the short trial.

Missha Time Revolution White Cure Hydro Gel Mask (KRW5000/28g)

Time Revolution White Cure Hydro Gel Mask contains Swiss Gigawhite (Alps plant complex), arbutin, Q10 and platinum, fortified with Transdermal cosmetics delivery system to assist better penetration of ingredients.

Gel-textured sheet mask normally costs more than normal mask but this Missha mask is actually affordable for try if you purchase it at its original Korea retail price.

.

The mask sheet is held between the transparent plastic film and a white pearl paper. It is extremely slippery!! I need to handle the mask sheet very carefully. It had slipped down from my hands into the basin once, but I still picked up the contaminated mask and applied it to skin, my skin itched within several minutes! Will never do that again.

.

Both sides of the texture are different. One side is smooth while the other side is not glossy thus adhered to skin more steadily.

.

I placed the unsmooth side to skin but the mask could still slip down easily, so I have to adjust the mask sheet from time to time during application (40 minutes!).

.

In spite of the mask ingredients have enough studies backed up their lightening effect, the instant brightening result after application was actually quite subtle compared to those Vitamin C-enriched mask. However, after a close examination, I did see the uncovered skin appeared a shade darker than the skin covered with the mask, hence I believed the skin indeed had been temporary lightened up a little bit particularly it had been “soaked” for 40 mins. The hydration effect was pretty mediocre that skin texture appeared nothing much different before and after.

.

I have three pieces of this mask and the last mask sheet that I tried was appeared to be slightly drier than the previous two because it felt not so slippery. Therefore I think the mask sheet would become drier after storing for certain period, best to get the fresher batch. As a sum-up, the Missha Time Revolution White Cure Hydro Gel Mask has never fascinated me since the first use but a new skin care experience anyway.

.

I bought this RM65/75ml from Sasa store early last year as a replacement of my favorite Neogence HA Hydrating Mask. My initial thought was to save more since gel mask normally has better value than sheet mask if consider the simple calculation “retail price/number of application. However I realized it was just my wishful thinking that a rigid calculation did not reflect the actual product value.

 Direction for use:

After cleansing the face, apply a thick layer of the product onto face. Rinse off after 15~20 minutes, use 2~3 times per week.

.

The scentless gel mask is very lightweight but it glued to skin nicely, yet it can be easily rinsed off afterwards. I stored the mask tube inside refrigerator so it can impart some cooling effect in muggy weather.  In order to boost the hydrating result, sometimes I would apply toner/ serum before the skin daubed with the gel mask.

.

Comparing with the Neogence HA sheet mask, this gel mask was disappointing. Besides the passable hydrating effect was not long-lasting at all, the skin did not feel bouncy soft either. “Bouncy” was just an adjective that I used to describe soft and firm skin like “baby”. For example, mature women could have “soft” skin but understandably the skin firmness and elasticity definitely feel differently with youthful skin of teenagers. In my past experience, many Hyaluronic Acid products were able to make skin “bouncy”, but this Neogence Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Relief Gel Mask simply failed to deliver the result.  It did keep skin soft but that was merely a basic function of any hydrating mask.

.

Perhaps you can see its hydrating result from below mentioned test. The test was performed under normal room temperature (26 °C, 70%).

Click the image to enlarge

.

There were two major factors that I think why Neogence HA sheet mask was delivered superior than this gel mask, 1) sheet mask able to seal and suffocate the skin, making skin soften and enforcing the essence absorption, 2) the essence of the gel was rinsed off after application while the sheet mask was not.

.

As a conclusion, I did not actually “save more” money as the tube ran out faster than I expected.  If I was not mistaken, the total number of usage of this HA gel mask was less than 10 times. Judging from its ingredient list, it aimed to soothe and calm skin especially all the ingredients seemed to treat sensitive skin, ideally for skin after sunburn or surgery. For normal skin condition, I was greatly disappointed of its hydrating effect, thus low rating here.

.

Rating:… )))      So-so. Will not buy again.

My sister gave me a sample kit of Korea UGB which consisting of Peeling Gel, Facial Essence Collagen Mask and Aqua Cream. I read about this brand online before because some beauty bloggers had done review on the Aqua cream but when I asked my counterpart in Korea, she actually never heard about this brand. Sounds like some cosmetics brands in Korea are mainly targeting foreign market only.  f(“ .)??

 .

According to Korea Tourism, UGB is a house brand of Ani Place, using Korea ginseng as their main ingredient. The brand is also available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. I got the latest (Sept 2011) Korea retail prices from a Hong Kong forum, from their discussion the price was soaring nearly 27% within this year!  (” w)

UGB Facial Essence Collagen Mask (KRW38000/8pcs)

 .

The mask sheet was very wet and adhered to skin extremely well. I was wearing the mask and doing my work in front of my laptop, and did not realize the time had passed by so quickly. My goodness, I wore this mask sheet for nearly an hour! Still it well-adhered to skin, only the mask sheet became more drying. Although skin was a little bit sticky touch right after removed the mask sheet, the skin was very nice hydrated and soft, the pores also looked slightly tighten due to hydration.

.

 .

As my sensitive skin had not sensed any skin irritation at all, I paid extra attention to its ingredient list and trying to figure out why. Noticing it contains several skin calming ingredients, one of them is Centella Asiatica Extract which is an oriental herb that used to treat variety of ailments, promote wound healing, improve blood circulation and scar appearance. The Centella Asiatice (a.k.a tiger herb or gotu kola) is also the main ingredient of Kiehl’s Centella Skin Recover Salve and Clinie Teatree series mask (no wonder I felt very familiar with this ingredient, haha)

.

 .

I massaged the remaining mask essence until it absorbed and then followed by applying a light BB cream, the mask essence kept my combination skin moist all day long. Overall I am happy with its excellent moisturizing effect and the quality mask sheet.

.

Aqua Cream  (KRW38000/50g)

.

This aqua cream simply reminded me of Bihada Ichizoku Finishing Aqua Gel Cream. The aqua cream is gel liked and becoming dewy upon massaging on skin. Comparing to Bihada Ichizoku’s, this has strong ginseng scent (dissipated after few minutes) and apparently  it generates smaller water droplets on massaging.

 .

.

The cream became fairly watery after breaking into droplets and sank in skin rapidly, leaving a smooth veil. Since I used it once, thus I would not be able to comment more. I personally did not fond of this type of aqua cream, I felt it was too light that cannot protect my sensitive, easily dehydrated skin. I applied Biore sunscreen and compact powder after using the aqua cream and my skin felt uncomfortably dry after few hours. It might work better for oily skin.

.

Peeling Gel (KRW38000/50g)

.

The product claimed to gently peel the dead cells off with cellulose and vegetable ingredients. It is very lightweight and has ginseng smell too. This is to be used on cleansed and dry skin, apply appropriate amount and gently massage on skin. The gel would quickly turn dewy and become flaky as shown in my below pictures.

 .

 .

Frankly I have kind of feeling of rubbing many rubber particles on skin since my skin soaked up the gel hydration quickly. As my skin was not dull that could not justify the peeling result, so I also tested this on the back of hand. I must admit the instant result did impress me, the hand appeared a shade lighter (temporary only) than the other hand. As I have no ingredient list of this peeling gel, that was no way to tell what made the skin appeared whiter. In addition, I felt my skin was quite drying afterward and those annoying blackheads on my nose bridge were still sitting there gloatingly.

 .

.

This type of exfoliator was nothing new to me because that was main reason of why Ginvera marvel gel was so popular in SEA region many years ago. Please do not mistake the white flaky particles as skin dead cells (though they look similar), the concept of this kind of exfoliator is actually using those soft particles for physical exfoliating.  This type of exfoliator cannot work on dampened/wet skin else it will not generate those rubber-like particles, while dead skin cells can actually be rubbed off easily by fingertips from wet skin, which my mom always asked me to do in shower when I was a kid.  Some cosmetic brands also included humectants to soften skin or fruit acids to loosen the binding in between dead cells so the subsequent physical exfoliation can be done more easily.

 .

 .

As a whole, I think UGB is a nice trial and loveable for oily skin. The reason of its soaring price is unclear, anyway, according to the HK forum, UGB is always on promotion “Buy 5 Get 1 Free” in Korea so for those who like this brand, it is really a big saving if you happen to shop in Korea.

.

.

I was first heard about Leaders Clinie mask when I asked a Korea counterpart what budget mask in Korea was good to recommend beside popular brands like Missha, The Face Shop, Skin Food, Etude, TonyMoly….and she suggested Leaders Clinie mask. She told me that Clinie mask was generally received positive reviews in Korea. The word ‘Clinie’ means ‘Clinic’ which I think it does carry the marketing message that you can have dermatologist formulated mask at home.

.

Leaders cosmetic is a cosmedical brand that created and tested by a group of dermatologists in Seoul. I had ordered the full budget range of the Clinie Mask (17 in total) and had tried them all except those for acne care. There are four categories of the mask – Ampoule, Essential, Skin Clinic and Skin Renewal. Both Skin Clinic and Skin Renewal are new release in Autumn 2011 and do not list English ingredient list on their packaging. The old version (Ampoule & Essential) are categorized under Clinie series, where new release (Skin clinic & Skin renewal) are designated under Leaders Insolution series.

.

I always used the mask directly on cleansed and dry face without toning in morning

.

About the price: There are two prices, ₩3000 for Skin Clinic and Ampoule masks and ₩2000 for Skin Renewal and Essential masks. Each mask contains 25ml essence.

.

.

About the scent: They are all mildly fragranced and the fragrance only lingers for a short while. Some of them have detectable scent while some have faint scent.

.

.

About the mask essence: Apparently it is clear, thick, slippery gel for all the masks. I personally like the thick consistency very much because it provides adequate moisture to my sensitive dehydrated skin and it absorbed rapidly with a light finger massage. It does leave a gel film on skin and slightly sticky to touch until it fully dried on skin, which require a period of time (depending on air humidity). Since we have warm climate here that the skin isn’t severely dehydrated, I normally treated the mask essence as gel moisturizer.

.

.

About the ingredient list: Both new released Skin Clinic and Skin Renewal ranges are paraben-free but do not list their English ingredient list on packaging. The ingredient list only listed on the 10-pack-size box. Ampoule and Essential series are still with older formula, which contains parabens as preservative. All have looking-good ingredient list.

.

.

About the mask sheet: All masks have silk cellulose mask sheet texture and only have two cutting at the edges. The overall size is slightly smaller compared to normal mask on the market.

.

.

About the application: I first thought both side of the mask sheet texture are same because they looked alike when it was wet. Since I took the picture of the dried mask sheet, I realized they differ and will affect the application if place on wrong side. But how to differentiate the correct side when the mask sheet is wet? Here is the simple tips, referring to the below attached picture, just make sure the nose patch can be flipped down from external when you are wearing the mask, then you are on the right way. When I placed it on the wrong side in first application, the mask sheet did not adhere to skin nicely.

.

.

If the mask sheet has extra two cutting then the mask sheet would adhere to skin more smoothly. As you can see in my picture, I still got those minor bubbles eventhough I had tried to adjust it carefully but overall, it fits snugly except sometimes the jaw part is easily falling down. Oh ya, the silk cellulose texture left a temporary grain on skin after removed the mask sheet.

.

.

About the result: For the thirteen masks that I have tried, they all have brilliant moisturizing effect! It simply reminded me of Neogence Hyaluronic Acid mask, a best hydrating mask that I have tried at that time of writing. I should re-phrase my words now. Concerning dehydrated skin, the Neogence mask is perfect for muggy weather but Leaders Clinie/Insolution mask will be ideal for dry season. It is excellent makeup base and my makeup stayed on very nicely on the moisture balanced skin. Unlike Neogence’s which need a moisturizer afterwards, the Leaders Clinie/Insolution mask is a one-step skincare for my combination skin. Skin is soft, dewy and firm throughout the day but the glowing tone probably just temporary.

For brightening/whitening series, I noticed Vita Bright and Vita Whitebeam masks had given me a warm sensation during application and sometimes temporary skin redness after application, not a very comfortable feeling but apparently my skin didn’t look irritated. I’m not sure if this is normal since the whitening ingredients used in these masks are quite strong (is dermatologist formula after all) that I always used soothing/hydrating mask the day after. As such, sensitive skin should use the masks with care. Having said that, these masks are not irritating to eye even the mask essence gets very close to the eye.

Besides the great hydrating/soothing effect, glowing skin and temporary refined pore, I have not seen any additional benefit. I did not see my freckles lightened dramatically, I did not see my skin is dramatically lifted, neither I expected mask treatment can achieve these results.

.

.

For skin type: The product packaging, is stated that the masks are suitable for all skin types except the hydrating Aquaringer is for drier skin. However, I think dehydrated, combination to dry skin types will benefit most from these Cline masks. When my skin is oilier, I saw a few small oil zits at the end of the day (with sunscreen/makeup on), so it probably too rich for oily skin.

.

.

My overall thought: My sensitive skin normally feels uncomfortably tingling in afternoon during dry season, which I believe is related to skin dryness and unhealthy skin barrier because the skin instantly soothed as soon as I re-apply something moisturizing to skin. Depending on the moisturizing stuff I used, the soothing could be temporary that I must constantly re-apply until I take bath and apply very rich skincare at night (I couldn’t adopt the same rich skincare routine in day because it caused comedogenic problem). That really frustrated me, imagine I have to repeat the routine everyday for few months, but these moisturizing Cline masks seemed to be helpful, my skin behaved better and being moist, no tingling as long as I avoid powder makeup or any skincare/sunscreen containing talc, starch and other ingredient has oil-absorbing ability. I think my splurging $180/3 months stock supply is worthy, since I have to order it directly from Korea so the cost I paid is slightly higher than its actual retail price in Korea. As this is first time I adopted frequent mask treatment for the weaker skin during dry season, I’m not sure if other masks perform and deliver same result, but the thicker gel essence of this Korea Leaders mask is exactly what I wanted and liked, so personal preference has to be considered.

I had no intention to purchase this initially. However, when the Sasa sales assistant told me this was on 50% discount which only available on particular date and at particular outlet (purchase condition applied). Oh no (!!)… as I had fulfilled the all requirements, my left brain and right brain were fighting fiercely in the minute and obviously my right brain claimed the victory at the end. I paid RM25 for 30mlx6 sheets in Malaysia, the normal retail price is RM55.

.

.

Anyway my left brain was not upset at all. This was a nice whitening mask, my skin appeared hydrated and glowing after each application. The mask essence was easily absorbed into skin and has no noticeable scent. Perhaps there was a little bit sticky touch right after removing the mask sheet but it left skin feeling refreshing and the mask essence was non-heavy.

.

.

As the mask essence was very watery so be aware the mask essence will be dripping when newly removed from the pack. The very wet mask sheet adhered to skin nicely except the jaw part the mask sheet dropped few times during the 20 minutes application.

.

.

In fact this Neogence C+ Multi-Whitening Mask served me well in both humid and dry season. I did not rate it Excellent here because I actually had no dehydrated and dull skin lately hence the effects of the mask did not impress me. As a conclusion, not the best whitening mask I had ever tried but it was a budget whitening mask that worth a try.

 .

Rating: ….)))     Good. May buy again.

According to HABA, this is self-heating gel mask that naturally heats to clean clogged pores and remove dead skin cells. 2-Way also means two-purposes, one is to clean clogged pores and the other is to improve circulation in your skin. It is suitable for normal to dry skin.

This Haba 2-way Jell has very simple ingredients. As per HABA US website, 2-Way Jell naturally warms on contact due to glycerin, which helps improve skin’s circulation and exfoliate dead skin cells naturally without the use of harsh abrasives. Interesting, I never knew glycerin creates warm sensation.

.

.

The samples that I received with purchase were enough for four applications, each contains 10g for two applications. Ideally the  mask  use once or twice per week for exfoliating and detoxifying.

.

.

As you can see, it is a clear gel mask. The texture is viscous, rich and sticky like honey or glue paste. On applying to cleansed and dried skin, there was warm sensation aroused within a minute and the warm sensation dissipated gradually in 2-3 minutes then.

.

I could see my complexion had more glow after application. Stubborn blackheads around my nose were still there but since the mask had softened the skin, I could easily squeeze out those blackheads without pain. For moisturizing and softening, this is fine. How about for exfoliating and detoxifying?

.

.

I had the first trial after shower at night, it seemed to be very mild that I felt no effect of exfoliation,  furthermore I couldn’t see the result clearly in incandescent light of my house, thus I tried it again in next morning and my skin texture remarkably felt smoother after the second application. However, my sensitive skin started complaining when I used a pure vitamin C serum that the skin stung uncomfortably for next few days! That said, this Haba 2-way Jell did work as exfoliator although I saw no visible improvement of skin texture after an application. Overall speaking, I am still not convinced by this, although I wish it works for me. Personally I would rather stick with physical exfoliator.

HABA Squa Cleansing (S$25/60ml, S$46/120ml, S$81/240ml)

.

Haba Squa Cleansing is moisture-rich makeup remover for drier skin type (and sensitive skin), where Micro Force Cleansing (makeup remover) is suitable for oilier skin. The product claims it can be used by wet hands and second cleansing is not necessary because it can remove makeup thoroughly. Really?

.

.

The consistency of this makeup remover felt light and runny on skin, as I used sample sachet so I was not sure how many pump needed for a proper makeup removal, I guess 1~2 pumps should be enough.

.

( ^^ ن )σ … Cleansing Power … ԅ ( ‘ن` )

(Top to Bottom) :  shimmering lipstick and Diorshow mascara  >>  applying decent amount of Haba Squa Cleansing onto the makeup and lightly massage in circular motion  >>  then rinsed with water and patted dry

.

Amazing! Makeup was melting away almost instantly upon massaging the oil on makeup. Finally I found a cleansing oil which compatible with Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil. It had not irritated eyes and totally feeling gentle for my sensitive skin. In addition, it did not emulsify when contacted with water but it cleansed well. Probably because skipping the emulsifying step, it left skin a moisturizing film after wash, not the greasy kind but you could tell there was a thin protective veil on skin. I personally liked to proceed second cleansing with HABA Squa Powder Wash, not only because for refreshing feel but also because my shower routine.

.

My shower routine : makeup removal  >> hair wash >> body wash >> facial wash. If I simply follow the one-step cleansing as HABA Squa Cleansing advised, then I wouldn’t able to assure myself there is no hair shampoo/conditioner residues cling on my face which possibly cause acne problem. Besides, the moisturizing film felt too much for my combination skin in muggy day.

.

Comparing with Fancl MCO, I vote for HABA Squa Cleansing now. In fact, they both are excellent, just I prefer HABA SC has longer fresh period (use within 6 months after opened according to a Haba SA) than Fancl MCO  (use within 120 days) and it has no stinking smell from temperature-sensitive botanical oil although both contain no additive fragrance. Only thing is that Fancl MCO suitable for all skin types where this HABA SC is for normal to dry skin types only.

I was surprised by the dirt-cheap price of these Lovemore anti-aging masks at Watsons pharmacy in Singapore. Affordable price S$8.90 to 9.90 per 5 sheets, impressive ingredients list, and manufacturing date is within 3 months at the time of purchase… I just couldn’t give myself a reason why I shouldn’t get one. In addition, Watsons was having promotion during the time, hence I actually bought them at slightly cheaper price.

Isn’t the envelope-design packaging very lovely? A Love letter shipping directly from other part of world to make you beautiful and younger! (‘`D)

Both Japan Pearls Firming & Whitening and Australia Agar-agar Lifting masks are retailing for S$8.90/ 5x25ml, where 3D-design Japan Electric Ore Peptide Firming Duo Lifting Mask costs slightly more for S$9.90/ 5x30ml. On each packaging, there is a rating of various effects that you can expect from the mask. I won’t say the self-rating is accurate nor I think my experience with the masks can overwrite the rating because individual skin condition can vary from climate, biological genetics, age group and lifestyle.

About the masks:

☺  Mildly scented

☺ The mask essences have slick and gel consistency

☺ The mask sheet design is a little bit wider than usual size but the wet sheet did adhere to skin nicely

☺ Both masks deliver similarly, imparting more glowing and satisfied moist skin right after application, no obvious “whitening” and “Lifting” effects.

☻ Although the mask residue can dry a sheer film on skin in short while but it still felt rather rich for my combination skin in very humid day

☻ I can imagine it might cause me breakout if using daily

☻ If leaving the mask residue on skin for overnight, you can feel the “gel film” when rinse your skin with water in morning

The 3D mask sheet is stretchable so we just hook the holes on ear at each side.

Rave the 3D mask sheet design of Japan Electric Ore Peptide Firming Duo Lifting Mask! The design really makes difference, it gives more anti-gravity effect compared to the other two, which is why I loved this most amid the three. The stretching mask sheet simply placed the skin in right position by ignoring earth gravity! Regardless the anti-aging result was not instant, the mask design certainly makes you feel the instant “lifting“ and “firming” effects.

Revamped new releases

Overall I am not impressed with Japan Pearls Firming & Whitening and Australia Agar-agar Lifting masks but I do think Japan Electric Ore Peptide Firming Duo Lifting Mask has very good value as anti-aging mask. As such, I rate “Excellent” for Japan Electric Ore Peptide Firming Duo Lifting Mask and “So-so” for the other two, cute packaging doesn’t earn customer loyalty if the product cannot perform greatly. May be that is part of the reason the 2D version had been upgraded recently and re-launched with new packing (as shown in above picture).
