Ujène Puriste Collagen

Being the core range, Ujène Puriste Collagen aims for whitening, anti-aging, hydrating & soothing.

I received the steady-packed parcel by little surprise. To be more precise, personally I was impressed by their professional way in handling the parcel. First, I did not expect they will send me a full size product, all I asked was a trial set that can last for at least 1 week usage, so I can try and do a preliminary review. Each product was wrapped with bubble wrap, they were not only came with purchase accessories like brochure, sample sachets and shopping bag, but also compliance with custom rules by including product MSDS. I was pleased with the “virtual shopping” experience.

Product packaging. Among the three products, the serum is in elegant appearance with friendly button pump. It does have good amount of weight. The day cream comes in decent practical jar but the soft tube of eye gel looked rather substandard considered the steep price.

Generally I was looking forward to experiencing the eye gel most before I tried the products, expecting the serum to surprise me most and assuming the day cream to be mediocre most. After using for more than 3 months, my mind changed. The day cream served my current skin condition best, the serum touched my heart most and the eye gel disappointed me most.

Ujene Eye Gel 1

Ujène Puriste Collagen Eye gel,  S56 / 15g

As I was constantly in searching of better eye care, I do hope meeting a lovely eye care product by chance. It doesn’t have to carry big international trademark but must show proven result – to treat fine lines and show visible improvement after a reasonable period. This eye gel has lightweight gel texture, non-irritating and feeling gentle. It worked fine when the climate is very humid here that my fine lines are hidden themselves perfectly without any skin care product. However, it failed to show any appreciable result when I used it after the fine lines shown, yet it highlighted the lines on the dehydrated area. Well, obviously it is not functioning as wrinkle filler. Talking about my puffy eye bag… I think that would depend on how much water I drink before sleep. I don’t have dark circle so I could not justify on that. However the freckles around my eye zone appeared lighter than the freckles on other areas, I would give the credit to all three products because I used them on eye zone all times. In a nutshell, it loads a bundle of goodies in a tube but I can go without this.

Ujene serum 1

Ujène Puriste Collagen Serum ,    $105/30g

The Collagen Puriste Collagen serum on the other hand reminded me of Rojukiss Protox serum, a serum that I loved very much in the past. This serum has 10% OVILUXE with dewy consistency and easily absorbed into skin, instantly giving skin slightly “tightened” and “lifted” feel. Skin is feeling full, firm and bouncy though the skin is slightly sticky touch in first few minutes upon application in humid environment. I normally go with 1/3 of the pump for subtle hydrating effect. Nevertheless, the serum absorbed and dried on skin relatively fast with lower air humidity. Ingredient wise, it is certainly more premium than ordinary hydrating serum, it loads ton of hydrating goodies in a bottle. Overall, this acts as a good complimentary for dehydrated skin.

Ujene cream 1

Ujène Puriste Collagen Day Cream,  $96/50g

When the serum left sticky film on skin in humid day, this Puriste Day Cream can immediately ease the stickiness. Well, I like rich moisturizer but afraid of pore pore-clogging and cause breakout, hence I always use rich facial oil which serves my skin wonderfully. It gives matte finish, melts into skin effortlessly, non-greasy, non-sticky, did not clog my pores, instead it made skin felt temporary “tightened” and “lifted”. The longer I use this day cream, my fondness for it deepen.

Although it is Day cream but it does not contain sunscreen ingredient so I actually use it day and night. I guess the lightweight cream texture is meant for day use. As the cream it very spreadable and it feels traceless on (dry) skin quickly, ideally use in morning particularly it saved my skin care time and serve as good base of makeup. For the amount used for each application, it lasts for 3-4 months.

Overall I have pleasant experience with the products. I did not suffer any adverse effect from these products despite sometimes it caused a little warmness to skin on application. If you purely ask for good ingredients with eco-friendly principle, these are nice try if you are fine with the price tag. If you are expecting luxury richness for its price, this might not satisfying you.

Naruko Narcissus Foaming Wash 1

 .

I hope you didn’t get bored with my Naruko reviews because I have more Naruko reviews to come, or may be, I will get uninspired and bored to write Naruko review first (“ b). In fact, my room was stuffed with Naruko products when I decided to cut down my budget on skin care this year due to my other financial plans. As a skin care veteran, neither I will comprise the skin care quality.

 .

Naruko Narcissus Foaming Wash 6

 .

This is the Narcissus New formula ( Normal – Dry Skin types ) in 2012. Besides this Totol Defense AA foaming Wash marketed as gentle cleanser, Narcissus DNA Repair Foaming Wash is another cream cleanser from the Narcissus series, which claimed strengthening skin self-defense against environment stress and revitalize skin energy. Just my left brain had reacted better against fancy marketing words, all I want for cleanser is gentleness, hence I get this basic formula.

Naruko Narcissus Foaming Wash 3

 .

The white mousy content is very alike with other Naruko cream cleansers despite the different fragrances, all suitable for normal – dry skin.

 .

Naruko Narcissus Foaming Wash 4

 .

Naruko claimed this new formula will foam up better than previous formula, so I was expecting bubbly wash actually. The fact is, non-well-foaming is the nature of amino acid surfactants (eg Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate & Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids). Every time I have to use more amount (1.5-3cm) in order to generate “sufficient” foam for acquiring sensation pleasure. Even though with such generous amount, the foaming process was still under my initial expectation. To be frank, this deters me from re-purchasing though I like the gentleness. Unless I will be diligent using foaming sponge/net, then it will be easier to lather.

 .

 .

Cleansing Test

(Shimmering lipstick and pencil eyeliner)

Naruko Narcissus Foaming Wash 5

 .

It irritates if the foam contacted with eyes accidentally but overall it has very mild citrus scent, mild foaming and mild cleansing power. Probably too gentle to certain people. I liked this cleanser didn’t make my skin feeling dry after using cleansing oil. If you are looking for a foam wash that can cleanse stronger, I hope my simple test here will save your money. If you are expecting very mild cleanse for all skin types, I think this is fine.

 .

Although it seemed to be “useless” in cleansing, I would still consider to re-purchase Naruko Rose cleanser for dry skin if can’t find better option, especially for morning facial wash. From my rating, clearly my first preference will be Rose scent, follow by Narcissus then Magnolia last. Did they improve my skin? My answer is prevention is better than cure. This Naruko Narcissus Total Defense AA Foaming Wash is selling at RM29/120ml online – Naruko Malaysia.

NRK Perfecting Elixir 1

.

NRK (NARUKO) is another sub-brand of Naruko, meaning essential, basic, multi-functional and simplificative skin care. NRK Rosehip Perfecting Elixir contains 99.95% of natural extracted Rosehip oil, rich in essential fatty acids and Vitamin C to treat skin dryness, photo-aging, scarring and cracked cuticle.

 .

NRK Perfecting Elixir 2

 ..

Though I adore the benefits of Rose hip oil, the “fishy” scent is the fatal flaw to me. The ambivalence solved if the oil can blend with nice scented essential oil, diluting the unpleasant odour while embracing the full goodies of rosehip oil.  Does it sound perfect and ideal?

.

NRK Perfecting Elixir 3

. .

That was what I assumed when I purchased this NRK Rosehip Perfecting Elixir. Not only my early-mature skin was yelling for nourishing remedy, I had a pimple and it left an unsightly scar on my face. Instantaneously I recalled a wonderful experience of how rosehip oil healed a scar and soothed skin dryness. (read Renew Rosehip oil review here)

.

NRK Perfecting Elixir 5

.

The fact is the signature golden oil still has slight “fishy” odour after opened for few days but less intense compared to Renew 100% Rosehip oil. Anyhow this is good enough for me that I can use the oil more willingly. It worked wonderful to relieve dryness but it did not get fair chance to lighten the acne scar completely due to an incident, resulting the acne scar still slightly visible after using the oil for nearly 2 weeks. Nevertheless, I would say the scar pigmentation improved better than Whoo whitening cream but not effective as Renew Rose hip oil.

.

NRK Perfecting Elixir 4

 .

The incident… well, I made the same mistake twice and I think I had learned enough from the lesson.  I packed this oil in my cosmetics bag, boarded the flight with half bottle full, then landed with an “empty” bottle. This similarly happened to my Renew Rosehip oil as well in the past. Such a painful to see the amazing oil disappeared in the bottle almost completely. Yes, the air pressure caused the oil leaking… cannot help myself to rant the poor packaging. I would never brought this type of packaging for trip again…totally wasteful….

I normally packed only the cannot-leave-without cosmetics for light travel so you know how much a face oil meant to me. Rosehip oil is a fantastic oil and it should be deserving an “Excellent” rating. However, I did not because… for Renew Rosehip Oil, I downgraded the rating due to its odour; for this NRK Rosehip Oil, the rating degraded due to its effectiveness. It costs RM26.10/10ml via online purchase, good small amount to be used up within 3 months after opened, smell slightly better than pure one, can be used on day and night… but I will go for other oil because of packaging issue.

 .

Rating: …  )))  Good    Good. Unlikely to buy again.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 1

.

I have dehydrated skin. Finally I have liberty not to sleep in air-conditioned room, because I have dehydrated skin. Probably I was now living in more humid Malaysia, perhaps sleeping in non-air conditioned room helped to minimize dehydration, I found my skin became less problematic nowadays. Less skin sensitivity, and less drying thus skin hardly has uncomfortably tightness and stingy sensation anymore.

.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 2

.

Apart from environment factors, cleansing is one of my very important steps in skin care. I like concept of amino acid surfactant so I intended to try more cleanser from Naruko. Since I purchased Naruko product online, I didn’t get chance to examine the ingredient list before purchase, I simply trusted the marketing words and assumed the same for all their cleansers.

.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 3

.

This seemed like a good foaming cleanser because it has additional soap-based surfactants also. Somehow I was disappointed of it foaming power later. Of course it foamed slightly better than amino acid surfactant, caused squeaky clean feeling when using more amount (roughly 1.5 – 2cm) that led to drier skin, but rather mild feeling when I used less amount (< 1cm) that I felt the skin wasn’t cleanse thoroughly.

.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 7

.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 4

.

May be this is a little more creamy, apparently the mousy fluffy texture has no much difference with other Naruko facial cream cleansers. It has mild floral fragrance of Naruko Magnolia collection. However, I apologize for no Cleansing Test for this review. The cleanser deteriorated and had been tossed before I can take a cleansing test and show you some pictures here.

.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 5

.

I wanted to perform the Cleansing Test when it still has 10% left in tube. Guess the cleanser didn’t close tightly? The fragrance changed weirdly when I left the cleanser unattended in bath room for 2 weeks. Nevertheless, you can still refer to other Naruko cream cleanser (Rose or Narcissus) reviews for some general idea. I believe this has similar mild cleansing power too.

.

Naruko Magnolia BF Cream Wash 6

.

Overall this is not my favorite so I’m unlikely to buy another tube. It has same pricing with Hydrating Rose and Age-Defense Narcissus cleansers hence I thought RM29/120ml has more value for Firming & Brightening Magnolia… just the outcome wasn’t as expected. Firming & Brightening? Sorry, I didn’t notice the result either.

Rating: … )))  so-so  So-so. Will not buy again.

My T-zone can be very oily while my U-zone can be very dry, so I thought of using specific product for different zones was smart approach? Indeed, specific zone care is encouraged by many beauty experts but I guess I had no luck with the product I tried – Tea tree Oil Out Balancing serum.

 .

Naruko has complete Tea Tree product range for acne-prone and oily combination skin. After using 2 bottles of this serum, honestly I was quite disappointed of its claim despite the ingredient list looked impressive. Cosmetics ads promote perfect theory but result truly varied for different skin type and affected by various factors. Nevertheless, though I found it under-delivered but I was still LOOKING FORWARD to using it every day.

 .

 .

The serum is in gel consistency and it felt fairly slippery while spreading on skin. It has cool minty sensation upon application and skin would be slightly tacky until the serum fully dried on skin. It is refreshing, hydrating and absorbed by skin quickly.

 .

 .

I used this serum diligently everyday on oily T-zone, my T-zone still shined and oily after few hours. I could not justify whether the oiliness was reduced after using this serum but the result definitely unimpressed.

 .

In spite of showing “zero” effect for my oily T-zone, its awaking scent was the only point I still enjoyed using it. If you have tried Naruko product, you probably would agree some of their products smell natural-liked, not over-powering, very soothing and calming. The fresh scent dissipated quickly and it will not interfere with other aromatherapy product. This is also the only point that comforts my guilty to splurge on this.

One of my friends is fan of L’Occitane, hence I was blessed from her loyal purchase and received generous samples of this “Divine” Cream. Pricing at £67/$98 for 50ml, L’Occitane has labeled Immortelle Divine as their most “Divine” anti-aging miracle.

.

.

Immortelle Divine series is enriched with organic Immortelle and Myrtle essential oils.

  • Immortelle essential oil stimulates the production of collagens and improves skin microcirculation, and also helps to reduce damage caused by time and restore substance and vitality
  • Myrtle essential oil stimulates the action of the longevity protein to help increase cellular vitality and preserve the skin’s appearance.

“ Deeply nourishes, deeply moisturizes. Radiant, Luminous, Revitalizes, Smoother, Wrinkle Reduction ”

Does the claim sound “divine”?

.

.

I was testing the cream after quite some time I received the samples. Due to unknown factors, the cream mixture was separated into two lipids, oil and cream as shown in below picture. As such, I strongly suggest you to get the fresh stock.

.

.

Nevertheless, the cream smelt natural and serene, carried a hint of citrus or simply Immortelle essential scent. I enjoyed the aromatherapy of Divine cream much more than Immortelle Blue’s Immortelle cream. It was perfect for my early-mature and combination skin which tended to be dehydrated easily. It imparted beautiful subtle glow that caused me being narcissistic in front of mirror.

.

However, I do not think this would be good enough for dry skin but should be loveable for drier skin in humid weather. It contains corn starch. Although I am not chemical expert but I can tell any cream with starch in ingredient list would not leave greasy touch. Cream with starch is also moisture-sucker for very dry/ dehydrated skin in low humidity air in my past experience. How I tell? The skin was uncomfortable tight and fine lines accentuated. Just like using a wrong product at wrong time causing a mess.

.

.

Apparently this is pleasant skin care trial and I really love the Immortelle story but I am also struggle to splurge since the selling price in Asia is beyond my budget for a moisturizer. Perhaps L’Occitane can introduce a valuable gift set in this coming Christmas? So I can define the “Divine” better?

What is your mood when you washing face every morning?

Every morning I try to complete all the necessary routines in 30 mins, which makeup takes longest time … ~ 10 mins. Therefore I don’t really “enjoy” my morning face wash, as long as the cleanser removes skin oiliness of the T-zone.

Besides Naruko, Taiwan NiuEr’s am+pm range is specially developed for office ladies, who talk about high efficiency, spend most of their time in air-conditioned office, enduring stress at work and only rely on skin care routine every AM & PM. The am+pm brand aims to go beyond the boundaries and allows the product continued taking care of the skin during working hours.

This concept is nothing new, I assumed this is the common expectation of everyone? For instance, I use a Vitamin C product in morning I do expect it protects my skin all day long; I use a sleeping mask before bedtime I do expect the mask keeps my skin moist throughout the night. Though I admit the assumption might not be always true in reality, many factors are taking into account.

Instant foaming cleanser is convenient and fulfills the concept of “Efficiency”. One pump is sufficient in morning as it worked well to remove excess skin oiliness, furthermore our skin normally isn’t “polluted” in clean bedroom that needs deep cleansing. In evening, I used two pumps for more thorough cleanse, at least I felt more secure in this way.

Happy Everyday Flash Foam Wash has citrus smell and I was delighted with the mousy foam to be frankly. Unfortunately I forgot whether it irritates eye or not because I used this 3 months ago without note the point for this review. The cleansing power is very straight forward as shown in below testing pictures, it is rather mild that worked fine for my sensitive skin.

※※※※※※   Cleansing Test   ※※※※※※

(with waterproof shinning lipstick and waterproof mascara)

Although I didn’t try many from am+pm range but noticeably the range is emphasizing on Dermo-Cosmetics. Using solid and proven ingredients like Vitamin A, B5, C… in higher concentration instead of botanic philosophy of Naruko. The price range of am+pm is also higher than Naruko. Happy Everyday Flash Foam Wash retails at discounted price RM40.50/120ml in Malaysia online Naruko shop.

If not it contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) and parabens, personally I would grade it Excellent and willing to re-purchase. Overall the ingredient list doesn’t look cheap compared to high-end foaming cleanser, much affordable and it’s pleasant to use. It should last 1-2 months usage for two applications per day.

Rating:        Good. May buy again.
