Shiseido Revital Wrinklelift AA

Posted on: May 12, 2011

I have not prepare for any wrinkle yet (I doubt if I ever), I can say for sure now eye cream is necessary because I always found moisturizer was not rich enough to moisturize the dry patches. Yet rich moisturizer very likely to broke me out and gives me tons of blackheads. There are some positive reviews for Shiseido Revital Wrinklelift AA on makeupalley, it seemed to be really moisturizing and worked for lines, Oh… that were exactly what I need for eye care.

According to Shiseido, the tube packaging is specially designed in order to protect the Retinol (Vitamin A) from exposure to light and oxygen. It aims to protect skin from environmental damage and Amino Acids Complex to moisturize.

It comes in airtight tube. Prior to initial use, remove the cap and nozzle and take off ring. Discard the ring, then replace nozzle firmly on tube.

Direction for use:
Apply as final step of skincare. Squeeze an appropriate amount onto fingertips, and smooth over whole face, concentrating particularly on dry areas around eye and mouth.

I used this solely for eye area. This is too greasy for combination skin and I suggest this for dry to very dry skin only if you want to apply it over whole face. My review here will be based on eye treatment only.

Recommend use it as night treatment because it contains Retinol (Vitamin A) that caused sun-sensitive. The texture was very emollient, easily spreadable, use tiny of it if you do not like greasiness since it took quite a while to absorb in skin. It might show immediate line-smoothing effect sometimes, but occasionally I need to apply double layers for the dry patches.

I bought this in Malaysia for RM365/15g as I was keen on their free gifts (White Lucent series), I think it sold cheaper in Thailand considering the 10% promotion cash rebate and you get additional 7% VAT refund for tourist (T&C apply). Eventhough it comes in merely 15g but it could easily last for a year due to small amount required for each eye treatment. You can see the tube (after using it for nearly 2/3 year) was not completely flat yet, definitely “cheaper” than medium-priced eye cream if you do the maths.

When retinol is still the best ingredient to treat wrinkle at this time, I actually disappointed of its hype, perhaps the low concentration in this product? I had been using it every night for nearly 8 months now, technically the line under each eye was still there. Although the fine lines were “invisible” when the dry patches moisturized properly, however, I must admitted the visibility of the fine lines had been reduced slightly. (it worked!) The anti-age result definitely won over some moisturizing eye creams in my opinion. Overall the lines could only be seen when zoom into the mirror very closely, they were basically non-noticeable in normal social distance. Besides, I think it lightened my freckles too!

I took these pictures after 4 months using the Revital Wrinklelift AA. Those small arrows were pointing those small freckles around eyes, some were hardly be seen with natural light. Comparing to the freckles on my cheek bones, those freckles supplemented by Revital Wrinklelift AA were slightly lighter.

In conclusion, this is not a miracle treat but I think the excellent packaging, emollient texture, appreciable result of Retinol, non-irritating for my eyes and Shiseido technology (making retinol stable and easily absorb by skin in their formula) make it worth the try.

Rating: ….)))     Excellent. Willing to buy again.

Hello, it’s such a detailed review of the product. May I ask if you have tried the RoC Retinol Correxion eye cream? It cotains retinol as well, maybe at higher amount? I’m looking for an eye cream which contais retinol but can’t decide between them

Hello Coraline,
I’ve not tried RoC Retinol Correxion eye cream, the Retinol concentration in both products are also unknown. I wanted to give RoC a try before but didn’t make it because I think it might be too strong for my sensitive skin. I personally prefer wrinkle treatment like Shiseido Wrinklelift/Haba Point Repair that have more greasy & rich texture, best for very dry skin under eye. (“v)

oh thank you so much for your prompt reply. i think i will try this shiseido wrinklelift first as i haven’t used retinol products on my eyes region before. plus i always love shiseido products :p

Then hope you like the product too (“v), I was using it for more than a year now, value for money considering the small content and Shiseido’s prestigious brand.
