Dr.Ci:Labo UV & White Protection Milks

Posted on: December 3, 2010

Dr.Ci:Labo UV & White Protection Milks are physical sunblock that use Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide as active UV protector. The two that I reviewed in this post are SPF30++ and SPF50+++, both contain Alpha-arbutin as skin brightening ingredient, whereas the UV & White Protection Milk of Super Sensitive range, UV & White Protection Milk SPF20/PA+ does not contain potentially irritating Alpha-arbutin (Alpha-arbutin is hydroquinone derivative).

I normally prefer simple-formulated sunblock but according to my searching, that is not many choices of lightweight physical sunblock which is alcohol-free, fragrance-free, mild, soothing and enriched with antioxidants. I got few samples of Dr.Ci:Labo UV & White Protection Milks and here is my brief review.

UV & White Protection Milk SPF30/PA++ (S$51 or RM117/30ml)

Suprisingly this is gel-liked. It is lightweight, the  protective film is non-greasy, non-sticky and also leaves no visible white residue. Meanwhile, it also did not control sebum, but I love it for my easily dehydrated skin that normally spend long hours in air-conditioned environment. As it is silicone-based, it may be comedogenic to some people and not very water-resistant. Furthermore, it pills a little bit upon applying makeup foundation as shown in below picture, not really a big issue because it did not spoil the makeup and I can just sweep the pilling over, but that might be its disadvantage point to some people.

Ingredients:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Water, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Butylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-3 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Silica, Peg-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Alpha-Arbutin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Dimethylsilanol Hyaluronate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Saxifraga Sarmentosa Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Rosa Multiflora Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Conchiolin Protein, Red Algae Extract, Brown Algae Extract, Green Algae Extract, Hydrolyzed Yeast, Royal Jelly Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Sanguisorba Officinalis Root Extract, Melissa Officinalis (Balm Mint) Leaf Extract, Licorice Extract, Tocopherol, Glycine, Arginine, Stearyl Dimethicone, Triethoxysilylethyl Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Hexyl Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol.

UV & White Protection Milk SPF50/PA+++ (S$57 or RM 132/30ml)

This has milky consistency and I find it fairly moisturizing. It takes a short while to settle a non-greasy, subtle luminous film that ideally serve as beautiful glossy makeup base, I do think the skin texture appeared a little bit smoother (than without wearing this) after applying foundation. Meanwhile, it feels slightly sticky to touch and leaves minimum/no white residue. It is also very water-resistant that I would use cleansing oil to wash my hand after applying the sunblock. Last but not least, it moisturized my easily dehydrated skin in air-conditioned room very well.
