Dr.Ci:Labo Basic Cleansing Series

Posted on: December 1, 2010

I was given several samples of Dr.Ci:Labo cleansing products some time ago and here are my brief reviews of each of them. Please take note that I only tested them for less than a week, hence this brief review will only give you a rough ideal of them.

What Cleansing Gels say: Removes makeup, cleanses dirty pores, gets rid of dead skin, oils and all the other enemies of beautiful skin with its adhesive gel formula that gently lifts and carries them off.

What Washing Foams say: Including a combination of three major moisturizing ingredients (marine collagen, hyaluronan, ceramide), helping your face moist and vibrant after washing.  Vitamins and various oriental plant extracts are also added, making a gentle cleanser on delicate skin that leaves you with trouble-free, healthy skin.

Cleansing Gel Super Sensitive

The clear gel is a little bit yellowish, it has bearable indescribable odour, cleanses sunscreen well without dryness. In fact, it seemed to be absorbed into skin upon massaging. Nevertheless, it irritated my eyes upon massaging, I was rather disappointed since it was formulated for sensitive skin (perhaps it just not for sensitive eyes).

Super Cleansing Gel EX

Gel texture with no detectable scent, feeling thick and warm on applying. Like Cleansing Gel Super Sensitive, it cleanses light makeup well and non-drying, by the way this did not irritate my skin and eye. I performed a simple cleansing test as shown as following and the result told me that Dr.Ci:labo cleansing gel was ideal to remove light makeup such as sunscreen and powder only. As such, I found DHC Suncut Cleansing Gel has better value than this to be frankly.

(Shimmering lipstick and lip gloss)

Massage the Super cleansing gel EX  onto the makeup for ~15 seconds

Washing Foam Super Sensitive

Containing no artificial fragrance, a small pearl size would be able to generate abundant lathers, leaving skin squeaky clean, non drying in rainy humid season but feel slight skin tightness in sunny day. That said, even my skin was very well-balanced (normal skin type) at the time of testing, the moisture of my easily dehydrated sensitive skin was highly depending on environment humidity still. If you have healthy and thick skin, you probably find this gentle and non-drying.

Super Washing Foam EX

Like Washing Foam Super Sensitive, taking a small amount already give you abundant lathers (They are soap based). Despite the different formula, it simply looked and worked as well as Dr.Ci:Labo Washing Foam Super Sensitive. They are feeling gentle and pleasant to use anyway, here is my simple cleansing test of Super Washing Foam EX.

Wow, your review puts mine to shame! 😛 I love the pictures – just like the ones in those Japanese magazines showing how the products work. Great job!

I used Dr. Ci:Labo before…love the 5-in-1 collagen gel creams. I used to even sell them on my online store too. The manufacturer was super nice to deal with.

Great review, keep up the good work!! I know how hard it is to keep a blog going. It takes dedication, time and effort, and money too, especially if you don’t get samples to test.

Hi Joseibi,
You are absolutely right that we need passion and commitment in beauty blogging, I felt guilty to splurge so much sometimes but I have joy and to share and learn. Thanks so much for your appreciation, I really don’t mind the happy wrinkle on my face (“V laugh too hard)

I was inspired by a Taiwan Tv beauty show that the makeup guru tested the durability of eyeliner by wiping it with oil and water, I thought that was a great idea to give better insight to reader, so reader could know more about the product before they spend. I don’t have good English writing skill so those pictures tell story for me. By the way, which Japanese magazine do you read? We have many choices in local Japanese bookstore but they are pretty expensive, sealed and too bad I can’t read Japanese properly. (“v)
