Beautyknot ~ My Skin Care Diary

When Kanebo Coffret D’Or LP Stay Fix first launched in Thailand, strangely they didn’t display the product at counter (they only displayed Lunasol new summer collection), I got to ask for it (they “hided” it inside drawer). In addition, it was out of stock in department stores that offered 5~10% discount for cosmetic item! I finally got this pink baby at normal retail price THB1150/25ml at the Isetan counter, even Isetan had only few left at that time.

The LP stands for Lasting Power, literally this is meant for summer. It formulated with Power Fit Veil, Cool Silhouette Pearl and Poreless Powder. What Kanebo says about it “Hydrates and adheres to the skin to maintain freshly-applied look for hours! Brings out well-toned, beautiful skin.” You may check the application method here.

The concept of this Coffret D’Or LP Stay Fix sounds pretty savvy. However, some of the ingredients are nothing unique that I have seen in many other base makeup products, especially those made in Japan and claim to be two-in-one (makeup base plus sunscreen).

content - with sun light

The bluish-silvery milky consistency instantly reminded me of Chanel White Essentiel Makeup Base, which would lighten up a dull skin instantly and  imparts a smooth and non-greasy barrier easily. Chanel’s has visibly glitter-particles on skin, where this Coffret D’Or LP Stay Fix has much subtle shimmers and those shimmers wouldn’t be seen on skin. I normally use two pumps for sufficient UV protection since I did not wear separate sunscreen again. It serves as “semi-matte” makeup base without leaving any visible white residue.

Left : Bare skin     Right: with LP Stay Fix

The pore coverage is average in my opinion. Perhaps I have tried many Japanese makeup bases and sunscreens, hence I was not impressed. I have compared the effect of this with Mandom Beauty Baby Moist Makeup Base, they both were equally good in my own view. You can refer to below genuine pictures for clearer idea but please take note the lighting condition (all taken with natural sunlight) could affect the pores visibility in these pictures, although I had tried my best to capture the result as if what I’ve seen in mirror.

Sequence: Cleansing > Skin care > LP Stay Fix > Powder foundation

Bare skin after face cleansing. Slight drying, thus pores were extremely visible.

Skin after usual skin care routine. Pores appeared visibly smaller and be less apparent due to moisturizing factor.

Skin after applying Coffret D’Or LP Stay Fix.

Skin after applying Kanebo Kate Powder Foundation.

…… (continued) On the same day (partly cloudy & humid)…, I tested Coffret D’Or on left cheek, Chanel’s on right cheek. Here the difference after spent 3 hours in normal room temperature. No blotting and touch-up in the interim.

Left cheek with Coffret D’Or LP Stay Fix. Skin looked dewy fresh (can blot the excess sebum for semi-matte finish again), fairer than the other side, and the skin redness was still considered well-covered.

Right cheek with Chanel White Essentiel. Skin looked fine in my opinion because I’ve no dullness issue but the coverage seemed to be worn off some, redness was visible than left cheek. More oily shine and I think the pores weren’t as smooth-looking as left cheek.

Picture was taken under dim light. After spending five hours in shopping mall, the skin looked tolerably oily shine but the pores still coverred moderately, skin looked fresh again after tissue blotting, no touch-up is needed.

I have been using this 2~3 times a week for nearly 2 months now, I do think its lasting power is above average for my combination-normal skin type. It improved the adherence of powders, BB cream and foundation. The moisturizing Clinique foundation stayed on nicely without oxidizing and no touch-up was needed (blotting would be needed) in the hot & humid season. If you have very oily skin, I suggest you to prime your skin with sebum-controlling product for better shine control. If you have dry skin, moisturize the skin first because it could be drying.

The product nozzle is user-friendly and the transparent cover wouldn’t fall off easily. Did I mention it’s fragrance-free? The gorgeous pink plus sea blue at the bottom of the bottle, I must admit I was intrigued by its antique design. The glass bottle is not feeling too heavy on hand too. The pink bottle is semi-opaque, you can know the remaining amount anytime.

So far I have no breakout from using this. It provides medium UV protection, suitable for those who spend their time indoor mostly. Friendly reminder here, for those who concern about anti-aging, I suggest you to use antioxidant-enriched skincare prior to applying this Coffret D’Or makeup base because it contains no antioxidant benefits. All in all, I would say this is a beautiful  makeup base that capable to enhance makeup stay in summer.

Rating: ….)))     Good. May buy again.
