Clarins loose powder

I have neglected loose powder for some time, simply because I opted for better coverage and staying power of powder foundation. Got the 2g sample of Clarins Loose Face Powder as GWP, very pretty crystal-like packaging.

As per Clarins, the Loose Face Powder promotes a smooth, matte complexion and helps prolong makeup wear while providing effective protection against dehydration. Enriched with light-diffusing silk powders, illuminating dark areas and minimizing small imperfections.

Somehow I didn’t totally agree of its light-diffusing claim that minimize small imperfections. Besides skin does appear smoother (but any powder can deliver a smoother skin), all my skin imperfections weren’t diffusing at all. In fact, before wearing the face powder, the freckles was less apparent due to the glowing skin, but freckles appear more prominent due to the matte finish.

I used powder brush for application since it comes in a small tub. The powder is very finely-milled, adheres easily without sit inside a pore, leaving skin smooth, even tone and natural. It slightly brighten the complexion, but basically promotes matte result. It has sheer coverage on it own and the glitter-particles is hardly noticeable without examine closely and carefully. It’s also fragranced, but the scent dissipates after a while.

This face powder also contains licorice extract to promote feeling of comfort and softens skin, ultra-fine oils help prevent dehydration. Indeed, this is not over drying when considering most loose powder causes dryness, hence comfortable wearing on moist base. Dehydrated skin definitely will still feel the little stingy upon touch up with this loose powder.

Although this is translucent shade, but it imparts hint of yellow tone, which suit my Asian skin well. When wear after milky sunblock that leaves white cast, it does lightly correct the tone to more natural looking. Depends on your skin types, it does prolong my makeup wear a bit in a hot day too, but nothing amazing.

Overall this face powder is working beautifully on me. I won’t purchase because I have Laura Mercier mineral loose powder yet to finish.
