Clarins loose powder

I have neglected loose powder for some time, simply because I opted for better coverage and staying power of powder foundation. Got the 2g sample of Clarins Loose Face Powder as GWP, very pretty crystal-like packaging.

As per Clarins, the Loose Face Powder promotes a smooth, matte complexion and helps prolong makeup wear while providing effective protection against dehydration. Enriched with light-diffusing silk powders, illuminating dark areas and minimizing small imperfections.

Somehow I didn’t totally agree of its light-diffusing claim that minimize small imperfections. Besides skin does appear smoother (but any powder can deliver a smoother skin), all my skin imperfections weren’t diffusing at all. In fact, before wearing the face powder, the freckles was less apparent due to the glowing skin, but freckles appear more prominent due to the matte finish.

Clarins loose powder2

I used powder brush for application since it comes in a small tub. The powder is very finely-milled, adheres easily without sit inside a pore, leaving skin smooth, even tone and natural. It slightly brighten the complexion, but basically promotes matte result. It has sheer coverage on it own and the glitter-particles is hardly noticeable without examine closely and carefully. It’s also fragranced, but the scent dissipates after a while.

This face powder also contains licorice extract to promote feeling of comfort and softens skin, ultra-fine oils help prevent dehydration. Indeed, this is not over drying when considering most loose powder causes dryness, hence comfortable wearing on moist base. Dehydrated skin definitely will still feel the little stingy upon touch up with this loose powder.

Although this is translucent shade, but it imparts hint of yellow tone, which suit my Asian skin well. When wear after milky sunblock that leaves white cast, it does lightly correct the tone to more natural looking. Depends on your skin types, it does prolong my makeup wear a bit in a hot day too, but nothing amazing.

Overall this face powder is working beautifully on me. I won’t purchase because I have Laura Mercier mineral loose powder yet to finish.

Clinique high impact mascara

I have 4g of the mascara sample as GWP of my Clinique haul. As per Clinique, High Impact mascara kicks up the volume and length of each and every lash for a look that’s lusher, plusher, bolder. Pure, deep colour only adds to the impact. Wear it once and you’ll feel naked without it.

Well, clapping hands for such a fascinating claim.

I admitted High impact mascara build up a pretty eyelashes that make it bolder, fairly lengthening, good curl and good volume. The eyelashes looked real and very natural indeed. As usual, I didn’t apply any other eye makeup for all my mascara reviews nor using any lash curler, but my left eye seemed has an eyeliner used, in fact that is an illusion created by the volumn of the mascara. Only thing is the bulky mascara brush is quite inconvenient to use and difficult to comb corner and lower lashes.

Clinique High Impact wand

High Impact delivers quite similar result like Shiseido The Makeup Lasting Lift does, except it isn’t waterpoof. For the removal part, this dissolved in a second with water without any residue, when tested with soybean oil, it smudged slightly, so the mascara absolutely not water-resistant but good oil-resistant. Thanks for the easy removal feature.

This is retails 750 baht for 8ml, has three shades, 01 black, 02 black brown and 03 Sapphie. I wish it can be better in lengthening, so most likely I will just stick to Maybelline cat eye mascara.

Clinique Lash Power

Clinique Lash Power made for Asian-eyes brush seeks out every last lash. Those already have dense, long eyelashes might not fond of this. I was having the 1.5ml sample as part of the Clinique’s GWP.

Direction to remove: Innovative thermal technology that helps it stay put for 24 hours is easy to remove. Use fingertips to splash warm water (bath temperature is ideal) on lashes several times and press gently. Or, wet a cotton pad with warm water, press to eye, then wipe away.

brush

Frankly speaking, Lash Power Mascara impressed me lots! Firstly, the mascara brush combs and coats my every single lash effortless. I have not come across any mascara brush that do that (okay, I didn’t try enough). The tiny head of the brush really makes whole application quick and easy.

Second, it delivers the similar finish as my favorite Palgantong D Cup Mascara. Well lengthening, slightly eye opening curl at the beginning, no clumpy, look natural but minimal volume and doesn’t hold the curl after a while. The question is, who want a droopy gorgeous lashes? Anyhow, Lash Power seperates each lash beautifully, and dry out in 1-2 minutes. Hardly smudges, as Clinique said, a unique waterproof technology resists sweat, humidity, even tears. However, second coat after the mascara dries out will causes clumpy or flakes. Sometimes the mascara also flakes under eye but can remove the flakes easily.

Removing the mascara

Removing the mascara

Third, the mascara could be removing by warm water with zero smudge! Clinique claims it removes easily with warm water (I guess 30-32oC), as long as not cold water. I found it is very interesting that the mascara stain smudges when I tested on hand, but the mascara never smudge when I remove them from eyelashes. I normally use cleansing oil to remove sunblock and face makeup first, then use fingers to remove the mascara after the cleansing (since the lashes had been properly soaked by water, so it was extremely easy to remove by using fingers), double cleanse with facial cleanser finally. The best thing is I don’t have to pull or wipe my eye anymore that contribute fine lines forming. Additionally, the mascara flakes is very much alike the rubber eraser’s stain debris.

Fourth, the Lash Power reasonably costs 850 baht for 6ml in Thailand, not that expensive compare to Dior, Chanel, Lancome… etc. I can get it at cheaper price during promotion or oversea. It has two shades, black onyx and dark chocolate to choose from.

Last but not least, this is the mascara is very close to what I have been looking for, only wish it could has more volume, creates and hold uplift curl.

Shiseido TheMakeup lastinglift mascara

I got the Lasting Lift Mascara as GWP sometime ago, but I seldom aware of its exist. Although mascara should be discard after 3 months, it never applied to me. Lately I decided write a short review of this, not informative, just make an addition to the number of my product review. (“b)

Shiseido LastingLift brush

The mascara has short winding up hair wand that could easily comb every lash including the lower lash. Very waterproof, thus very difficult to remove them (most Japanese mascara are excel in this aspect), even a powerful cleansing oil need some efforts to remove it properly. First coating is quite enough to create non-clumpy, non-stiff eyelashes, if you want second coating, don’t wait until the mascara dries out, otherwise the second coating will causes clumpy.

As per the name ” Lasting Lift”, I suppose it will makes my lashes lift and curl adorably for whole day. Apparently it did medium lengthening, fairly volume and satisfiable lifting, but not to the extend that I’ll say WOW. It simply didn’t impress me since the first use. My picture above didn’t use any curler and other eye makeup by the way, but I love it imparted a look as if I have drawn eyeliner on.

Shiseido Lasting Lift

Overall a medicore quality that I can get from drugstore brand. Perhaps the quality of the samples changed over time, or my mascara skill need a big room to improve, but for me, save the money because L’Oreal Double Extension Mascara (the blue one) delivers the similar result.

Kanebo Blanchir WC -main

Kanebo Blanchir Superior maintains its fragrance-free and color-free features. Powered by Kanebo’s whitening ingredient Magolignane (Tetrahydromagnolol), inhibits the formation of melanin by controlling the maturation of tyrosinase (melanin formation enzyme), preventing blotches and freckles. This is quasi-drug whitening essence, to be caution, Kanebo advised don’t use it after getting sunburn until skin redness and irritation subside.

Kanebo Blanchir WC2

The consistency of this serum is kind of feather-light milky lotion. Initially I thought it must be very moisturizing, realized later the dewy content actually absorbed very well into skin within a minute. Totally not greasy, slightly tacky if over-applied, but overall comfortable, hydrating, matte skin looking instead. I could layer another serum on top without feeling heavy if I want intense treatment. In other words, it is not a moisture booster.

Kanebo Blanchir WC3

I have finished this in 3 months, 2-3 squirts for face and neck and 1 squirt extra for freckles area after being in the sun. Speaking of its whitening ability, with whole Kanebo Blanchir series I started to notice the different in first week, a 1.5volt light bulb lighten on my face likeable effect although that was not the type of translucent fair. The result reminded me of using Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair Whitening Complex in the past.

When I paired this together with non-whitening products, it worked slower that took 3 weeks to have the intense brightening result and even up skin tone overall, may be slightly lightening effect on freckles. There was once I was in the scorching hot sun (in the noon time even) for few hours without constantly shaded, my hands were obviously getting slightly tanned but no sign at all on face! Although I used this serum on the day and night, and I admitted I re-applied my sunblock twice for face only during the day and I had done a honey mask on the night, but I think this serum did help, my skin was healthy glows like usual on next day. Concerning my sensitive skin, that was impressive that I wanted to highlight here. On the other hand, I didn’t have breakout these few months so I couldn’t comment how it would help the post-acne scars.

Kanebo Blanchir WC1

Overall I think the serum is very comfortable to use on daily basis, no irritation had been noticed, no breakout, suitable to all skin types and you need patience for the whitening result if use it alone. If you want a moisturizing and faster result of whitening, with a condition you have healthy skin, Kose Shirosumi Whitening Serum has better value for periodical treat. The normal retail price of  Blanchir Superior Whitening Conclusion is 3595 baht for 45ml, paid 3236 baht for it during promotion. Pricey, make sure you love Kanebo enough to purchase this.

Kanebo Blanchir mask

[Kanebo had revamped their whole range of Blanchir line and officially launch the new version, Kanebo Blanchir Superior in mid summer 2009. I’ve no news when it will be release in Thailand. Since I bought the old version Kanebo Blanchir before I got the news that it was going to be replaced, so I’ll still go ahead with my reviews, as a reference to distinguish the differences between old and new.]

Blanchir Whitening Clear Conditioner Mask is fragrance-free, absolutely soothing and hydrating. The mask is fully loaded with 19ml of beige color of whitening essence without any extra residue in the mask pack.  For the essence is quite tacky, hence the sheet mask adheres well while I was moving around at home.

The mask remained damp after 20 minutes application, my skin was moisturized but no immediate brightening result has been noticed. I used the mask sheet to sweep my hands and legs, skin was not feeling great actually because the essence was tacky to touch and took more than an hour to absorb into skin. On the other hand, I didn’t wash my face subsequently but  massaged the essence into skin, followed by sunblock. The result was absolutely moisture, oily skin might need to wipe off the excess.

I may love this after sun for its soothing and moisturizing treat, but very disappointed of its whitening ability despite it is moisturizing, at least I got instant brightening result from some other whitening masks.

Kanebo Blanchir milky conditioner

[Kanebo had revamped their whole range of Blanchir line and officially launch the new version, Kanebo Blanchir Superior in mid summer 2009. I’ve no news when it will be release in Thailand. Since I bought the old version Kanebo Blanchir before I got the news that it was going to be replaced, so I’ll still go ahead with my reviews, as a reference to distinguish the differences between old and new.]

The emulsion consistency of Blanchir Whitening Milky Conditioner is moisturizing, fragrance-free, pale beige in color, runny on skin and easily absorbed with small amount use. However, it need a proper massage to see its true benefit, if I over use, it results skin tackiness and takes a while to fully absorbed into skin. Anyhow, this milky conditioner leaves my skin smooth, non-greasy if absorbs properly, non-tacky if not overuse and very moist skin to touch then.

It’s enough in normal room temperature during summer, for me, I need an extra serum underneath in air-conditioned environment. More suitable for combination to oily skin.

As the Blanchir lotion, Kanebo  Blanchir whitening clear conditioner, I didn’t see a significant whitening result with this. I used the Kanebo Blanchir cleanser, lotion and this milky moisturizer together, the skin does look slightly more even tone, but I didn’t have the remarkably ‘whitening feeling’ until I introduced the latest Kanebo Blanchir Superior whitening conclusion serum into the routine, the overall whitening result was slightly obvious in a week then. This wouldn’t change your skin tone to one or more lighter, but even up the overall skin tone with illuminating glow.

Kanebo blanchir emulsion content

So far I have only used entire whitening series from Kose Sekkisei and Kanebo Blanchir. So comparing both, I think Kose’s delivered translucent skin, could be irritating to sensitive skin due to high alcohol content. While Kanebo’s delivered soft glowing skin, more moisturizing and comfortable wearing. None of them give me breakout and none of them work without regular exfoliating.

Overall I think this Blanchir Whitening Milky Conditioner is quite nice for moisturizing purpose, provided you don’t have special grail for whitening. Honestly, compare to other emulsions I have used in the past, I really don’t think it has any special to impress me.
