CLINIQUE C10 Anti-aging Clarify Formula

Posted on: July 7, 2009

Clinique C10 -1

I love this is freshly prepare mixed form of pure Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) which minimizes the oxidation risk of Vitamin C. Instead of using continuously for 1.5 months, I rather took it as monthly intensive treatment, use one week of every month for consecutive 6 months.

Clinique C10-2

Clinique C10 Anti-aging clarify formula contains 10% pure Vitamin C, restores brightness to time-tarnished skin. Helps boost natural collagen production for a firmer, smoother tone. Clinique’s proprietary formula with Black-Out Yeast Extract helps recapture a luminous look. Quoted Clinique.

To use: Contains 6 vials (6 weeks supply), 7ml each vial and prepare a fresh supply each week. Pure vitamin C powder is sealed for freshness inside the cap of each vial. Firmly push button in cap to release powder into vial. Shake until mixed. Replace cap with dropper. Place 4-5 drops into palm and spread over face with fingertips. Apply AM and PM for one week, discard unused portion and begin using a freshly mixed vial. Avoid eye area.

To store: I stored the C10 at lower compartment of fridge because Vitamin C can be unstable to light and heat, powder should avoid humidity. After the mixture, store back inside the fridge, do so after every usage.

Clinique C10-7

About the consistency: Original color of the serum appears slightly yellowish, after mixing with Vitamin C powder, the serum appears very pale yellow. Fortunately I able to keep the color at the end of each week. The consistency is liquid-gel semi-opaque.

How I use: It’s recommended to apply after lotion. So I applied any alcohol-free toner after cleansing. After the serum is fully absorbed, I applied sunblock directly because it’s so hydrating, followed by makeup during day time if any. At night, applied alcohol-free night cream after the C10.

About the feeling:  The serum mixture is easily absorbed, even multi-layered.  Face is slightly stingy, feeling slightly tight and slightly redness due to the acidic nature of Vitamin C, perhaps alcohol plays part as well but it was used to help the absorption. Personally thinking, the stingy even more gentle compare to the uncomfortable feeling that caused by dryness. The redness has gone after a while and the stingy feeling will be ease as soon as put on the moisturizer. For unknown reasons, sometimes no stingy feeling, my neck also didn’t have any redness and uncomfortable feeling.

About the scent: Unfortunately, C10 smells like yeast or liquor or fermented soy sauce, or black vinegar (“!)? The strong smell was lingering around for whole day, perfume or strongly fragranced skincare/make-up would help to hide the unpleasant smell. However, usually I didn’t notice the smell on the first day.

Take note: Do wear sunblock during day time. Do minimize direct sun exposure during the period. Don’t use if the skin has wound or irritated. Don’t use when skin is suffering from any skin disease or after laser treatment.

Clinique C10-5

1st week (Apr 24-30): Since the first application, I could see my skin is constant healthy glowing, less perceptible fine lines, smoother skin and inconsistent smaller pores during the 1st week. Sad that my deeper lines around eye couldn’t benefit from this. My freckles had been visibly lightened on the third day. I also noticed night cream was absorbed quicker than usual. Along the week, still have many blackheads as usual, so normal exfoliation routine went on. Nice complexion sustains but will still have temporary dullness. Must wear sunblock diligently for skin is easier prone to redness during use period.

Satisfaction level:  1w  WOW.

2nd week (May 1-7): New vial. I have recovered the skin translucency since last weekend. Not pale skin but translucent with heathy glow! Totally impressed of the fast result. The broken capillaries surprisingly continue became least apparent except after exfoliation, my interpreting of this is my skin became healthier! Skin still would be slightly stingy for a short while upon C10 application. Inconsistent smaller pores persisted, preobably caused of the menstrual cycle since I also have hormonal broke out on face and body. By the way, this seems couldn’t stop from broke out, but will help lighten the scars. Besides, more cloudy and rainy days during the two weeks indirectly took me minimized sun exposure. Anyhow, freckles appear vivid again if I spent more time moving under sun. On the other hand, weather is more humid now, skin is moist and all my fine lines hardly noticeable even without moisturizer, skin became normal combination. I love summer!

Satisfaction level:  2w  Contented.

3rd week (Jun 6-12): New vial. Took 4 weeks break from using C10. I was on Kose whitening care during the break period so that I could have reasonable time frame to verdict the Kose whitening care, for the reasons, the bright and even complexion basically with me all the time that I resisted put on foundation. Sadly my broken capillaries have seen vivid again. C10 once again gave me smoother skin texture than usual. Strangely, I’ve no stingy feeling upon application this week, would the portion lost its potency? But it kept my skin hydrated despite it contains alcohol denat.

Satisfaction level:  3w  Elated.

4th week (Jun 13-19): New vial. I decided to change my plan to use C10 till Sept. I saw the ingredient list of Clinique CX C15 De-aging Clarity Formula here, not sure if Clinique is going to release this in Thailand, I wish it would although it is for men. Repeatedly, I really satisfied with C10 and it did better than all hydrating serum that I used before so far, which gives instant smoother skin that remains all day long, not sure about the reasons of plump skin. My skin was in best condition whenever with this on. I even confident enough to wear Chanel WE modeling base and foundation for entire day without looking dull and dry, base makeup stays beautifully without touch up. A good skin to start with simply too important for any makeup. By the way, I still have the stingy feeling with C10.

Satisfaction level:  4w  Touched

5th week (Jun 20-26): New vial. I was thinking what attribute to the minimal skin firmness (at least skin looks so and felt so by fingers touching). I guess probably is beacause Clinique Repairwear Intensive Night Cream since I wasn’t too impressed when using with other moisturizers, perphaps C10 does help. Throughout the treatment, definitely even and healthy glow skin tone. For me, C10 delivered more than I expected, and I’ve no complaint of it despite the smell. The smoother skin and dewy complexion would remains eventhough I have stopped the treatment for 1-2 weeks previously. However, the result wasn’t obvious after 3 weeks  continuos use.

Satisfaction level:  6w  Converted

6th week (Jun 26- Jul 3): New vial. This is final week of C10 treatment. To finalize, I did very much enjoy the smoother skin texture and  healthy complexion that C10 delivered. Practically, aging pores and fine lines still exist but more dewy appearance of the skin, definitely less sensitive skin. I wasn’t sure if any true firmness in skin deep, as well as if the smoother skin is result of hydrating. With the mindset of “one stone kills two birds”, anti-aging plus clarifying, it surely got me interested of any pure Vitamin C item in future.

Satisfaction level:  6w  Committed.

As a conclusion, HaHaHaHahaha…… for such a wonderful result at the reasonable price, I was absolutely willing continue to purchase. Paid RM270  (normal retail price is RM300) at Malaysia airport duty free, it retails 4500 baht in Thailand.

Rating: …)))  Love it!   Excellent2.

Left: Room temperature, did not expose to sunlight. The C10 residue on the 9th day still remains its actual white-opaque color, but noticeable color change since 10th day.

Middle: Room temperature, did not expose to sunlight. The C10 residue on the 14th day was changed its color to yellow, which means the vitamin C was oxidizing.

Right: Room temperature, expose to sunlight. The cap that contains C10 mixture was changed its color to dark orange on 14th day, which means the vitamin C already oxidized.

Good info,Thank you : )

Hi Racheal,

Thanks for dropping by and thank you for your kind comment.

[…] herb kind of fragrance is very strong, which is excellent to cover unpleasant smell of my Clinique C10 formula. When use as body sunscreen, this leaves slightly white residue, non-greasy and settles quickly. […]
