I mentioned in my first makeup with Kanebo Impress about 3 months ago and I got 2 samples of Kanebo Impress Makeup Base 02. There are two types, type 01 (Fresh, SPF15, PA+) suit for normal to oily skin and 02 (Moist & Smooth, SPF15, PA++) for normal to dry skin.

The consistency is feeling fluffy light, take a small amount, smooth onto skin like emulsion, and it settled quickly. No tacky and oily residues yet smooth to touch. The skin tone might had been slightly brighten, but very subtle. I wouldn’t say this is moisturizing on it own although it’s quite a moisturizing feeling, for that I need to have a proper skin care routine done before this makeup base in order to moisture the skin in air-conditioned room.
When I used together with Impress powder foundation, it worked decently that the foundation does adhere freshly for first few hours. Apparently type 02 has no satisfiable sebum controlling ability, it rather excels in providing smoother base. Due to light-diffusing feature of the powder foundation itself, the combination gives velvety luminous glowing skin which covered my redness and had visibly lightened my freckles to 80-90%! I almost want to believe I have a flawless skin by looking into mirror. Fantastic!
When I used together with rather matted and sheer finish Chanel WE compact foundation, which the staying power is under average, the makeup base does prolong the fresh makeup fairly, so it serves as good moist makeup base for the rather drying Chanel foundation. The finish is quite close as though the base is with Impress powder foundation, just lower coverage and less powdery. Tested for three days, I realized the radiant effect was highly depending on my milky sunblock (mild shimmering or matted), hence the finish could be either dewy or matted with the Impress makeup base actually. Above attached picture is matted-version.
Because I want to further confirm if any glowing effect derived from Impress makeup base, so I tested with totally matted finish Palgantong loose powder. Tested twice, again the radiant effect was rather depends on my milky sunblock (mild shimmering or matted). Obviously the Impress makeup base doesn’t really have any intense brightening effect and not a helper to pore-concealing.
The samples (1g) provided me 6 applications. Small amount for each application because the consistency itself is runny on skin. I noticed a very very mild fragrance upon application but it disperse very quickly. Also not noticed any oxidization of foundations with this on.
Overall this is quite good for normal to dry skin, but I don’t think I love this enough to pay for this though. The retail price is 2200 baht for 30g in Thailand, expensive indeed, partly due to the skin care ingredients in Kanebo premium cosmetic for skin conditioning.
